The green ‘Labourer’ CSCS card is no longer in use, so anyone looking to renew their old style CSCS card now needs to take a course instead.
Anyone needing to renew their green CSCS card can take this course as a part of the renewal process.
The CITB Health & Safety Awareness course has been designed to provide delegates with a basic practical summary of health and safety, environmental and welfare issues. The course identifies individual responsibilities, what an employee’s duties are, what an employer’s duties are, and the steps that should be taken if someone feels that someone’s health and safety is being put at risk.
Who needs to attend the CITB Health & Safety Awareness training?
This course has been designed for individuals that have just entered the construction industry, as well as a refresher for employees that have been working in the industry for a longer period of time. This course is also aimed at individuals who are planning to complete their touch screen test imminently.
Course aims and objectives
This course is designed to ensure that all delegates are aware of their responsibilities as individuals working on site, what is expected of them, and how they can contribute towards health and safety in the workplace. Once delegates have completed the course they will:
- Understand the need to prevent accidents
- Have an understanding of health and safety law
- Be able to identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
- Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
- Appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if unsure
Certification
Upon completion of the course, successful candidates will be awarded the Construction Skills Site Safety Plus certificate.
When coupled with further experience, this qualification can contribute towards the 2 day Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course that is aimed at site supervisors.
